Career Assessment

Choosing a career is one of the most important decisions you will make in life.  It's about so much more than deciding what you will do to make a living. To start with, think about the amount of time we spend at work. We are on the job approximately 71% of every year. Over our lifetimes, this comes to roughly 31½ years out of the 45 years most of us spend working, from the beginning of our careers until retirement. The importance of selecting a career with which we are satisfied cannot be overemphasized.

While some people are lucky enough to just know what they want to do and end up in satisfying careers without giving it much thought, most of us are not. Many people don't put enough effort into choosing occupations or pick them for the wrong reasons. Maybe they choose careers that seem secure or pay well. They then end up unhappy. The best way to make sure that doesn't happen to you is to make a well-thought out decision.

Normally, students are unaware of the fact that 10th is the initial and crucial stage of building a career. They take the decision with puzzled and ambiguous mind and end up selecting a wrong stream thereby opening the door to worst consequences in the long-term career prospects. In India Most of the students after matriculation show an inclination towards high profile jobs such as an engineer or a doctor as they think this can lead them to a reliable and safe career. But what happens if a student has no interest in that profession but however just to fulfill the dreams of his parents or due to peer pressure he became a engineer or a doctor and in real that was not a job or profession for what he is made for and a man who has no passion for his present job or career can only end in a disaster or depression.

Before taking any decision on stream selection one must make every effort to take a right decision for his future career. A student stepping into a class XI brings with him a series of opportunity and aspirations about his career. While the student invests heavily in time, money and effort with a belief to build a successful and reliable career. In today’s scenario when we are living in a country like India where competition is very high and for a single job thousand aspirants are there .It is very mandatory and important to plan our career in such a way that we can prove our self outstanding and unique in certain required conditions and circumstances and that is only possible when we know our strengths , skills , interests , aptitude ,IQ, personality , values and potential and once we know all this we can plan our career according to our strength and ability.
